That Works For You.

I'm Daniel Lakstins, your personal commercial roofing guru. I've spent decades in the commercial roofing industry learning what it takes to win business, manage projects, develop profitable customer relationships, and build a successful company.

Whether you're ready to enter the commercial market or want to take your existing roofing business to the next level, Roofing Business Builder will help you develop the knowledge, systems, and mindset to make informed decisions with confidence.

Learn to pursue bigger opportunities, reduce the fear of the unknown, and build a business that's designed around your goals—not one that depends on you being involved in every decision.

Roofing Business Builder Isn't for Everyone. And That's by Design.

We're looking for roofing contractors who are serious about their future, open to new ideas, and ready to put what they learn into action.

Whether you're preparing to enter commercial roofing or you're ready to build a more independent, valuable company, the first step is determining whether we're a good fit for each other.

Grow Your Roofing Company

Build stronger processes for production, quality assurance, recruiting, administration, and customer service so your business is better prepared to grow.

I've Been in Your Boots. I've Built the Business. I've Been Through the Journey.

With 32 years of commercial roofing industry experience, my background spans roofing contracting, manufacturer representation, sales, marketing, and business development.

I took over a family-owned roofing business, helped build it, and successfully exited the business. Later, my wife and I operated a manufacturer's representative agency for 17 years, growing a territory from $183,000 in its first year to more than $8 million in its best year.

I've experienced the challenges of building a business, developing profitable relationships, making difficult decisions, and discovering what it takes to grow. Now I teach roofing contractors how to apply those lessons to their own businesses.

My goal isn't just to help you win another roofing job. It's to help you build a stronger business, make decisions with confidence, and create more choices for your future.

Wherever You Are in Roofing, There's a Path Forward.

Wherever you are today,

Roofing Business Builder helps you identify your next steps and move forward with greater confidence.

Path A: Break Into Commercial Roofing

You've built experience in residential roofing. Now you're ready to pursue larger commercial opportunities.

Learn how to choose your niche, understand commercial roofing systems, identify the right prospects, develop customer relationships, and prepare to compete in a different market.

Replace guesswork with knowledge. Approach your next opportunity with confidence.

Path B: Grow a Commercial Roofing Business

That Can Run Without You

You're already in commercial roofing. Now it's time to build a company that doesn't depend on you personally solving every problem.

Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), strengthen your team, build profitable long-term customer relationships, and learn to course-correct before small problems become big ones.

For owners planning their next chapter, explore how to prepare the company for a potential sale, establish transferable business systems, and work toward making the business attractive to qualified buyers or equity investors.

What You'll Learn

Build the Skills, Systems, and Mindset Behind a Stronger Roofing Business.

Commercial roofing success takes more than technical knowledge. You need to know which opportunities to pursue, how to develop relationships with decision-makers, how to deliver profitable projects, and how to manage the business behind them.

1. Strategy, Vision & Mindset

Define your goals, choose your niche, develop confidence, and prepare yourself to pursue opportunities beyond your current comfort zone

2. Commercial Sales, Marketing & Relationships

Learn to identify valuable prospects, build trust with decision-makers, develop relationships with major property owners, and pursue customers whose ongoing needs can support profitable long-term business.

3. Roof Evaluation, Estimating & Proposals

Improve your understanding of roof diagnosis, destructive testing, Tectum core cuts, estimating, and proposals so you can evaluate opportunities more intelligently.

4. Production & Quality Assurance

Explore single-ply roofing, pre-job preparation, quality control, and the processes that help projects run more effectively.

5. SOPs, KPIs & Business Systems

Create repeatable processes, establish measurable performance indicators, and learn to monitor your business so you can intervene when the numbers signal a problem—not wait until it's too late.

6. Leadership, Profitability & Exit Readiness

Strengthen recruiting, administration, and customer service while developing the systems, documentation, and operational independence that can support future growth and a potential business sale.

Why Roofing Business Builder?

Stop Owning a Job. Start Building a Business.

Here's something I want every roofing contractor to understand: if your business can't operate without you, you may have created a job for yourself—not the independent business you originally wanted.

A business built around the owner requires the owner to solve every problem, approve every decision, and keep everything moving. A well-designed business has documented procedures, capable people, and measurable performance indicators that help it operate consistently.

With the right SOPs in place, your team has a repeatable way to do the work. With the right KPIs, you can monitor results in real time, identify when performance slips, and step in to course-correct when necessary.

That creates the opportunity to spend less time managing every detail and more time developing your next big customer, growing the company, enjoying a vacation, or pursuing another venture.

The goal is not to make yourself unnecessary overnight. It's to build a business that becomes less dependent on you over time.

Less Time on the Roof. More Time on the Yacht.

Build Your Commercial Roofing Company to Sell.

What if the company you're building today could become a valuable asset you can sell tomorrow?

For some owners, the ultimate goal isn't to run a roofing company forever. It's to build an organization with documented processes, reliable management, consistent reporting, strong customer relationships, and less dependence on the founder.

These characteristics can help make a business more transferable and may improve its appeal to potential buyers, including strategic acquirers and equity investors.

Roofing Business Builder teaches the operational thinking behind that goal: systemize the work, measure performance, develop your team, and understand your business beyond the day-to-day demands of running it.

Build for growth today. Build for options tomorrow.
